Creating a profile on Roomster is free. This "Basic Account" allows you to search , post & contact all our members for free. This type of account gives you access to roommates throughout the U.S, Canada & U.K There are thousands of members at all times in most cities. You can hot list members who you like, receive notice of waiting messages to your email address and search using all our proprietary tools. Ask your friends to write you testimonials to add to your profile and to better introduce yourself to the community send interest and emails to anyone you want. This is all included in the Free "Basic Account".
A "Subscription" gets you all the functionality of a "Basic Account" plus access to a safe and secure private mailbox. "Full Membership" rates are flexible. Rates start at $5.95 for 3 days of full access, $14.95 for 2 weeks of full access, $29.95 for 4 weeks of full access. All subscriptions are automatically renewed to ensure uninterrupted access to your roomster messages (a 3 day trial subscription is renewed for additional 30 days for $29.95 and continues to be renewed every 30 days until canceled, a 2 week trial subscription is renewed for additional 30 days for $29.95 and continues to be renewed every 30 days until canceled, a 4 week trial subscription is renewed for additional 30 days for $29.95 and continues to be renewed every 30 days until canceled) as per the Terms Of Use.
How do I disable my profile? [top]
You can disable your profile at anytime. Disabling your profile will end all basic services, discontinue all emails and hide your profile from the community, click the "Account" link and then click the "Settings" tab. Set the "Profile Status" pull down to "Disabled-hidden from roomster users".
How do I cancel my paid subscription? [top]
You can cancel your subscription at anytime. To cancel your subscription, click the "Accpunt" link on the top navigation, then select the "Settings" tab and then click the "Subscription" link. Click "Cancel my subscription".
How long will my profile remain active? [top]
Your profile may remain active as long as you need our services. When your done with your current search you can disable your account at anytime. Your profile will no longer appear in search results and you will stop receiving notices. For your convenience you will always be able to login to your account, contact help desk, access your account pages and can enable your account at any time for future searches.
I used PayPal and would like to cancel my subscription. What do I need to do? [top]
Paypal does not allow vendor sites access to customer information, so you are required to close your Roomster subscription in your paypal account. After you click the "Cancel my subscription" link on the Roomster site, we immediately direct you to your paypal account where you can cancel your Roomster subscription. Your Paypal subscription with Roomster will be active until you complete this step.
Do you keep my personal information private? [top]
We will not post your name, address, phone number, or e-mail address anywhere on the Roomster site, unless you enter this information in non sanctioned areas, such as in the first name field. We recommend that you not divulge this information until you feel comfortable with your potential roommates. Additionally, we will never disclose or sell your personal information to outside parties.
I am having problems logging in. What do I do? [top]
On the login page there is a "forgot your password?" link. This link brings you to the "forgot password page". To use this feature, enter the email address you used when setting up your Roomster account and press continue. Roomster will send your password to this email address only. Delivery time should be under 1 minute.

distant roommate offers to send you a cashier's check and then have you wire money
distant roommate suggests use of an online escrow service
people offering rooms and apartments to rent asking for upfront wire transfers before they send you the keys, but the keys never come

How do I notify Roomster of an unethical or inappropriate profile? [top]
If you think that there is an unethical profile on Roomster, try our "report user" system. Unethical profiles may include, celebrity, nude or fake photos, hate language, other roommate services, commercial postings, spammers and scammers. As soon as you click "report user" on a profile we will investigate the questioned profile. If the profile is found to be unethical we will remove it.
Why can't I search or filter results based on sexual preference? [top]
Roomster does not contain any matching or filtering solution based on race, religion, or familial status. We do not encourage our users to post notices expressing preferences for roommates based on sex, race, religion and sexual orientation. Fair housing -- it's your right.
How can I block a user? [top]
Roomster has a "Block this user" link located on every conversation page in your mailbox. It is located to the left of every message right underneath the "report this user" link. You can choose to "block any user you wish. This will prevent the user that you have blocked from sending any further messages to you. You can always "unblock" them at anytime.

In the Sale and Rental of Housing: No one may take any of the following actions based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status or handicap. Fair housing - it's your right.

Create your "posting rentals" profile with information about yourself and select the type of user you are (Broker, Owner,Management Company, Sub-lessor) The more you add to your profile the better your searches, matches & leads will be. Add a photo or company logo to provide more character to your profile page. All of your new and updated listings will be displayed on your profile page as well as in our search results for all of our members to view. You can Add, edit and delete listings as often as you wish 24hrs a day.

Your Profile for posting rental properties starts as soon as you begin the registration process by using the sign-up link found through the site. You will select "i have apartment to rent out" for account type. The next page is for sharing with the community information about the person or company who is posting the available properties. Selecting the correct "user type" (Broker, Owner,Management Company, Sub-lessor) is very important. You will then be able to upload photos and videos about you or the company you work for, if that apples. You will then add in your first property. (see help link # 5)

On your logged in homepage there is a section titled "My Posted Listings". There you will find a link to "Post New Listing" as well as re-post, edit & delete. You can always view each listing in display mode by clicking the listing's title.
Do you accept bulk listings via a data feed? [top]
Yes. We do accept data feeds from property owners & brokers only. you can contact the help desk from your logged in homepage for details about setting this service up.
How long will my posted rentals show up in search results? [top]
Posted rentals will be displayed for 30 days after posting, unless they are edited, or re-posted. If not they will be disabled and removed from search results. You can login at anytime and edit or re-post any listing that has been disabled. These listings will be displayed on your logged in homepage, and will be boxed in red, to high light the need for action.
